Behind our history we find many other stories. We could go back thousands of years to the Etruscans, who cultivated olives in this region and influenced the way we eat today. We take our hats off to them, but we will let this story rest for now.
Our story is undoubtedly much more exciting: how we began to grow our olives and how our premium olive oil will influence your food culture. Until a few years ago, our only link with olive oil was our love for a good oil. Going among the olive growers ourselves, however, has never been an issue. Now that we have our own groves, that we harvest the olives ourselves and that we have modernised the local oil mill is a prime example of how you never know how things turn out.
The history of BUTTINALE 73 is not an ordinary one. It is also not an ordinary Italian olive oil, but perhaps the best of Italy. Why so sure? Because we are two friends with great passion for oleiculture, who are both down-to-earth and who share the same values of honesty and authenticity.
We both were career changers as we began to work in this field. However, we put our heart and soul in it and we have the best team we could ever dream of. Every olive tree is like a child to us. We nourish, groom them and watch them with joy as they thrive. You can tell that we get carried away when we talk about our work. How could we have lived for so long time without oleiculture? Right now it’s something that we wouldn't never do without.
If it were for Stefan the day would last 48 hours, and it still wouldn’t be enough. This busy man first travelled to Umbria for work, then also for pleasure. During his business trips he fell in love with the inimitable landscape and decided to build a holiday home for his family. The house has been standing there for a long time, of course, and to the few olive trees on the property an entire grove with 5000 trees was added.

For Norbert ideas are the motor of the world. However, his speed range should not be so high, since he needs peace and quiet to find his strength. To find all of this, more than 40 years ago, he travelled with his wife Priska from Tirol to the city of Perugia. He also fulfilled his dream of opening his own farm, which he has been running successfully for decades and where, alongside his cultivation of apples and wine, he began olive growing.
