Masters of Olive Oil, Monte Carlo
What it stands for: The Masters of Olive Oil International Contest is an international competition for extra virgin olive oil, in its tenth edition in 2026. The prizes are awarded in Monte Carlo. In 2026, 302 entries from 20 countries were judged.
How it is judged: Blind. The samples are anonymised, and an international jury of trained tasters scores each oil on a scale from 0 to 100 points. Flavoured oils compete in a separate contest.
When you get which medal: The medal depends on the score. In the 2026 flavoured oils contest that meant: gold from 90 points, silver from 80 to 89, bronze from 70 to 79. Platinum is not a score level but a special award that the jury grants at its own discretion. There are also rankings per category, such as light, medium and intense fruity, and an overall ranking of the best three.

London International Olive Oil Competitions (London IOOC)

What it stands for: The London IOOC consists of several separate competitions. Our oils were awarded in the Quality Award and in the competition for flavoured oils. The results are published on the Global Olive Oil Stars portal, which is why this name appears on some seals.
How it is judged: In the Quality Award, a jury tastes the oils blind and scores aroma and taste.
When you get which medal: There are three levels: platinum, gold and silver. In 2026 a total of 755 products were awarded, of which 409 with gold and 201 with silver.

DLG: German Agricultural Society (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft)

What it stands for: The DLG tests food in Germany according to fixed standards. Unlike in a competition, an oil does not compete against others here, it has to pass a quality test.
How it is tested: In three parts: a sensory test by experts using the DLG 5-point scheme, laboratory analyses in accredited labs, and a check of packaging and labelling.
When you get the award: Until 2025 the DLG awarded medals in gold, silver and bronze, with gold standing for the full score. Since 2026 there has been a single label instead, "DLG Approved Quality". To earn it, edible oils must reach at least 4.6 out of 5 points.

Questions about the awards
Yes. The oil is awarded, not the container. The 100 ml bottle contains the same oil as the 5 litre tin.
The photos of many bottles were taken with the 2025 medals. The awards are genuine, they just come from the previous year. You can always find the current status on this page.
It is not a prize of its own, but the shared results portal of the London competitions. All London IOOC winners are published there.
Yes, and quite precisely. Tasters judge whether an oil is fruity, bitter and pungent and whether it is free of defects. Whether you prefer a light fruity or a robust oil is still up to you.
The Manufaktur Chili: platinum and 1st place in flavoured oils in Monte Carlo 2025, gold again in Monte Carlo in 2026 and gold in London.
